You’ll find new single-player modes (which usually end up being pasted together asset dumps), art galleries (once again, not much more than asset dumps), and a few U.I. Tweaks, but in the end you still feel like you are buying an expansion pack for full price.Arc System Works has approached this problem from another direction with their release of Guilty Gear Xrd Rev 2. Rev 2’s biggest draws are easily its new additions to the roster: Answer and Baiken. His concept is “business ninja.” He dresses in a formal suit, carries around a briefcase, and talks on the phone the whole match while throwing business cards as shuriken and latching on to mystical requisition forms.

He is also one of the most bizarre characters to play. Many of his moves require him to pin himself to the wall using his requisition forms first. This means you have to anticipate where the opponent will be, knock them down in that place, set up the forms, then pin yourself to the form, and THEN execute a move. It requires a lot of prediction but it pays off in a big way.

The revised netcode alone makes the purchase worth your penny, but you’ll also find mini-games you can play in lobbies, daily rewards, and expanded match options including the ability to play first to two style tournament matches.

The interface has also been simplified and matchmaking has been given a complete makeover. Whereas it seemed like the servers were completely barren in Revelator, it’s very easy to find a high quality match with someone of approximately your skill level in Rev 2.So let’s break down the cost of Rev 2. By my estimates, you are paying eight dollars for one character, eight dollars for another, and then three dollars for a balance patch, expanded single-player content, and an upgrade to the online suite. In fact, the only way you could question Rev 2’s value is if you already own Revelator and have decided you no longer want to play it.
